Corporate Profile – BMO Guardian Funds

BMO Guardian Funds is a family of funds offered by BMO Investments Inc. who is a part of BMO Financial Group and part of the organization's Private Client Group. The Private Client Group provides integrated wealth management services in Canada and the United States.
 
We offer clients an extensive line-up of investment products including mutual funds, alternative products and managed programs (fund of fund portfolios). Our funds are organized in the following categories:
 
Income
Income products can help reduce volatility and enhance returns, while providing current income. BMO Guardian Income Funds provide investors with a full complement of both traditional and alternative income products from which to choose. Through these funds, investors can gain exposure to money market securities, domestic and global bonds, as well as income trusts, preferred shares, floating rate and high yield bonds.
 
Equity
Equity mutual funds typically provide the growth that’s necessary for wealth creation. Through the diversified line-up of BMO Guardian Equity Funds, investors can select Canadian, U.S. or global equity funds to serve as long-term core holdings. Aberdeen Asset Management Inc. is a global investment manager with over $240 billion in assets that provides investment expertise across the equity, fixed income and property asset classes. Aberdeen invests worldwide in fundamentally sound investments using a predominantly long-only approach and does not typically engage in short selling securities. It uses a team approach with managers based in the regions that it invests and decisions are based primarily on its own research.

Barrantagh Investment Management Inc.
is a Toronto-based investment firm managing over $900 million in assets*. Cash-flow-centric techniques form the basis of Barrantagh’s overall estimation of a company’s financial stability and intrinsic value, based on Barrantagh’s belief that cash flow generation is the most crucial indicator of potential success for a business.

BMO Asset Management Inc. is a prominent Canadian institutional and mutual fund investment manager providing a variety of investment solutions across asset classes and investment approaches.   As of December 31, 2010, BMO Asset Management Inc.  and its affiliates had over C$56.8 billion in assets under management for a diverse client base including pension funds, endowments,  trusts, insurance company reserves, corporate surpluses, as well as for high-net worth clients and retail mutual funds.

Global Alpha Capital Management Ltd. is a Montreal-based investment manager specializing in global small cap equity investment. Global Alpha employs a ‘core’ investment style that combines growth and value characteristics with bottom-up security selection through fundamental research. Founded in 2008, Global Alpha currently manages approximately $30 million in assets and is an affiliate of Connor, Clark and Lunn Financial Group, the second largest independently owned asset manager in Canada. 
 
Guardian Capital LP (GCLP) was established in 1962 and manages over $12 billion on assets*. GCLP is one of Canada’s leading fixed income managers and also manages numerous Canadian equity mandates based on a growth-at-a-reasonable-price style
 
Harris Investment Management (HIM) is a Chicago-based investment management firm with over $15 billion in assets under management. HIM’s investment philosophy is premised on the belief that companies with improving fundamentals, attractive valuations and increasing investor interest consistently and predictably outperform the market.

HIM Monegy, Inc. is part of Chicago-based Harris Investment Management, Inc. and operates within BMO Financial Group. It is a wholly-owned, indirect subsidiary of Bank of Montreal, the parent company of BMO Investments Inc. HIM Monegy's experienced group of professionals is dedicated to managing high yield bonds, loans and credit default swaps. As of December 31, 2009, assets under management for HIM Monegy were approximately $1.8 billion (Cdn.).
 
KBC Asset Management Inc. (KBC) is part of Brussels-based KBC group, which has offices in 10 countries and manages assets in excess of $8 billion*. KBC uses fundamental and quantitative analysis, selecting companies that are expected to have a high level of cash flow and a sustainable dividend.
 
Lazard Asset Management (Canada) Inc. is a subsidiary of Lazard Asset Management LLC, which has long maintained a pre-eminent position in the world’s financial marketplace. Tracing its history back to 1848 and with more than 265 investment personnel worldwide, Lazard offers an array of investment management solutions using their global sector-based research platform and network of local offices in ten different countries. As of December 31, 2009, the assets under management were $86.3billion.

Founded in 1926, Loomis Sayles and Company LP is an award winning U.S. based investment manager that provides investment expertise across both equity and fixed-income asset classes. As performance-driven investors seeking exceptional opportunities, Loomis Sayles employs actively managed disciplines that combine bottom-up fundamental research and systematic risk assessment with experienced portfolio management. Loomis Sayles currently manages over $140 billion in assets.

Macquarie Capital Investment Management LLC is a wholly owned, indirect subsidiary of Macquarie Group Ltd. (Macquarie) and manages assets across a wide variety of mandates and asset classes. Macquarie was founded in 1969 and operates in approximately 26 countries employing about 12,700 people. It’s a global provider of banking, financial, advisory, investments and fund management services.
 
Martin Currie Inc., originally founded as an accountancy practice in 1881, has been involved in managing investment portfolios for over 100 years and manages over $20 billion in assets*. Using a growth investment style, Martin Currie employs a fundamental, bottom-up approach to try and take advantage of pricing inefficiencies that may arise in these equity markets.
 
Matthews International Capital Management LLC, founded in San Francisco in 1991, has over $11 billion in assets under management*. Investing exclusively in Asian markets, Matthews uses fundamental analysis and emphasizes individual security selection using a blend of growth and value styles. Matthews has been appointed as a sub-adviser by the portfolio adviser, Jones Heward Investment Counsel Inc.
